Hi, greetings. We want to laminate our floors (can't do real wood..we have a hyper boxer dog lol) but we have one problem.the color of the wood of the stairs are orangey wood and we hate it. I want to laminate the floors a drak color like dark brown but it does not go with the stairs..( stairs have carpet on them it is just the railings are visible which are orangey color) i dont want to laminate the floors orange wood...

what to do? does it really matter if the laminate in the living room matches the staircase? or could they be different color? ( the stairs are at the beginning of the living room) thank you so much

Hi, If you lightly sand down your railings to scuff up the coating. Use a fine sandpaper and always work in the direction of the grain. Then use a dark oak varathane stain on them to darken the colour. There are many brands that would suit.
