    Default static in sound

Recently I started getting a lot of static when playing mp3's etc. I
sprayed tuner cleaner on all the speaker wire connections but it didn't
seem to help. It's pretty much unbearable. Any ideas?

First, I think you ought to try a different set of speakers (borrow from a
friend, say) and see if the same noise occurs. If it does, I would be
suspicious of the sound card. But before buying a new sound card, I'd
uninstall it and reinstall it. If no difference, I'd go to the manufacturer
and look for a new or updated driver for it. If a new driver doesn't help,
then as a last resort I'd consider a new sound card. Luckily they aren't
too expensive, at least not for normal computer use. Best of luck...JG
