As per the advice given in the last thread about FWE(thks for that DARIO & DOROTHY)I have since then deleted the folder containing FWE and started a new instance of FWE alongwith fresh install of all extensions and userscripts,which was a rather easy thing to accomplish,thanks to the userfriendliness of FWE...

Everthing seems to be working reasonably well again,except some odd observations:
1.If FWE is not running prior to clicking the links,shortcuts etc.for webpages saved on desktop or in folders,these open in a window which is not the profile newly created,but another profile with with title bar marked MOZILLA FIREFOX, without any extensions.A check of properties of this profile says FIREFOX VERSION 1.0.0.8 and path leads to a subfoder FIREFOX contained in the sobfolder APP of folder FWE.
As per your advice I didnot click anything in the FWE folder for starting fresh instance of FWE and ran only the .exe file obtained by selfextracting 7zip file

IT seems strange because the webpages were saved using FWE and these should open in the profile of FWE and not of MOZILLA FIREFOX(without extensions)
A check of properties of FWE profile running says versionFirefox(Unable to verify) Mozilla Corporation version1.08.20060.2538 , time 29/15/2006 8:04 AM & the path D:\VARIOU~3\FIREFO~2\FIREFO~1\FWE\App\firefox\fire fox.exe command line

2.I have made the FWE as default browser,so its kind of odd that clicking shortcuts opens these in a window titled MOZILLA FIREFOX(simple instance of firefox browser without any extensions,as if it's starting the first time)and not in FWE.

3.I had changed the choices for opening the files .htm,.html and url from IE(wich was default)to FWE by going to explorer\tools\folder options\file types.But when I click the browse button (in the following window opening after clicking" change" in the file types choice selection window)to show the path to FWE,its not taking that path choice ,but shows the selection made firefox(with FWE AND IE being the other choices available) I try to make the choice to FWE and close the window but it again reverts back to firefox and doesnot stay on FWE as desired.

So far I am managing by opening FWE first and clicking the shortcuts afterthat,to be able to open these in FWE.Normally,I guess the shortcut of webpage created by FWE should open it in FWE(whether FWE is running prior to it or not,just like the case in IE which I used to do earlier)

There are entries in the windows diectories DOC & SETTINGS ,APPLICATIONS(with path shown leading to subfolder firefox in subfolder APP of folder FWE)although it was mentioned that being a portable version,there are no other entries except those in the directory in which FWE is run

So I guess I need further advice from you nice guys dealing with a nice creation called FIREFOX-WONDER EDITION.I dont mind starting it all over again provided it runs as it should.....
