Default Corrupted section on SATA hard drive

Recently I replaced my old IDE hard drive (due to the click of death) with a SATA hard drive (with adapter card for the motherboard). Now my new HD has a corrupted sector, specifically I get the blue screen of death on boot, the error states that something is wrong with NTFS, follows it with a bunch of numbers and it suggests that I run chkdisk /f. In my attempt to run check disk I used the windowsXP restore CD that came with the system (along with the driver diskette for the SATA adapter). I can get to the point of selecting the option to "repair" windows. After that I recieve the same error message. I've tried using a DOS boot disk to try and get to a point where I can issue the "format" command but the DOS boot disk doesnt have the drivers needed to access the SATA adapter...so I cant access the HD at all.

Any suggestions on how I can repair the corrupted sector, or format the HD?

Hi . with the WIndows installation CD instead of "reparing" your Windows you can proceed with a new till the point where you create a new partition and you format it.
After this you can exit the setup if you just want to format your hard drive

but consider that the error could be caused from bad memory stick or bad power supply also.
Try (if you have 2 sticks) to remove 1 memory bank at time and try the Windows setup
