Default No IE installed with Media Center

I recently had to reinstall Media Center on a PC due to errors we don't need
to get into here. When Media Center was originally installed on the PC
everything was working normally and IE was installed and I had no problem
    activating windows.

After reinstalling with the same CDs and same license key Ie does not appear
to be on the system although when I go into add/remove programs and click on
windows components it does appear checked. I can't find the exe file on the
    windows partition at all.

Other symptoms since the reinstall include:
    - DHCP client service does not start automatically even though it is set to
    start automatically.
    - No Windows activation option on the Start Menu
    - When I click Activate Windows icon on the task bar nothing happens and
    the icon just goes away.

I can start the DHCP client service easily enough and obtain an IP when I do
    so.
I can use Windows Explorer to browse the internet.

The only hardware configuration change is that this time I made a larger
    partition for Windows.

Hi - you might get more expert help in a WinXP MCE group....this one's for
regular XP. When you post in there, you might also include event log errors.

It should be found at Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

    Try setting it to manual.

Is this an OEM machine where the install is BIOS locked? If so, then there
is nothing for you to do.

Let me know if any of that helps.
