My MCE 2004 is intolerably slow
For some while I have put up with my MCE 2004 being very slow (10 mins to
boot-up, 1 minute to open a browser window, video stepping and pausing). Now
the thing has gone ridiculous.
It takes about 20 mins to boot even into Safe Mode and opening even a DOS
window takes 2 minutes!
I ran a chkdsk and a defrag a few weeks back but that made no difference to
the slowness then.
During alll the times I am waiting the disk light is constantly alight.
I can't think what it can be busy doing in all this time.
Can anyone help or suggest an application that will be good at sorting this
out
Nigel
P.S. Around the time it first started to slow down I had just upgraded to
the Computer Associates version of PestPatrol. I am hanging onto their
support in case they are the fault. But if it is so slow just in Safe Mode I
don't even think they can be to blame?
P.P.S I have tried uninstalling PP but the slowness doesn't go away!

RE: My MCE 2004 is intolerably slow
Mine did the same when I installed Norton Antivirus.. Since that time, I had
a crash on my pc and I had to reinstall everything
now all is fine... maybe
this is stupid, but just save your work, and install MCE again in formatting
everything...
